Privacy policy

What we collect

• Account details: your username, your email address (stored encrypted) and a one-way hash of your password. We never store your password itself.
• If you use “Continue with Google”: Google tells us your name, your email address and an account number for your Google account. We store that number only as a one-way code and the Google email encrypted, and we use your name only to suggest a display name you can change. We never see your Google password, and we don’t get access to anything else in your Google account. You can disconnect Google on your account page.
• Reviews you write, including ratings and the features you report.
• Security data: IP address and browser type for sign-ins, failed attempts and reviews, stored encrypted and used only to stop abuse. See Security & privacy for how long we keep it.
• Your location — only when you ask. If you press “Use my location”, your device shares its position so we can sort results by distance. It is kept only in your session, not in your account.

Cookies

We use one session cookie to keep you signed in and protect forms, and one preferences cookie that remembers your accessibility settings.

We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Any sponsor spots on the site are plain images and links.

Services we use

• OpenStreetMap / CARTO to show maps, and OpenStreetMap Nominatim to turn a city or ZIP into a map location.
• Google Maps, only when you choose “Directions”.
• Cloudflare, for security and the optional “I am human” check.
• Our email provider, to send your sign-in codes.
• Google, only if you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in.

Your choices

You can edit or delete your reviews at any time from your account page. To delete your account or get a copy of your data, email support@restrating.com.
